Ribbon Cutting for Emergent BioSolutions Headquarters in Gaithersburg Tuesday
Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett is expected to join Gaithersburg Mayor Jud Ashman and Emergent BioSolutions President and CEO Daniel J. Abdun-Nabi for a ribbon cutting for the Emergent BioSolutions new headquarters facility at their Gaithersburg campus on Professional Drive on Tuesday.
Emergent BioSolutions is a leading vaccines and therapeutics company that represents a vital component of the Montgomery County life sciences industry. Having established its headquarters in the county in 2004, Emergent BioSolutions has steadily expanded within the State and had chosen to relocate their headquarters to Gaithersburg. Funds provided by Montgomery County, City of Gaithersburg, and the State of Maryland were used to renovate the company’s existing facility and acquire an adjacent building to create a corporate campus. The buildings have been renovated to reflect the company’s new vision for the future – protecting and enhancing 50 million lives by 2025.
The project is the result of Leggett’s commitment to providing financial incentives for economic development, an important component of his six point economic plan, according to a news release from the county.
Other elected officials will attend, including members of the Gaithersburg City Council, the Maryland State Senate, as well as representatives from the offices of Rep. John Delaney, Rep. Chris Van Hollen, and Sen. Ben Cardin. Also attending will be representatives from the State of Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development and Montgomery County Department of Economic Development.
