Hats Off to Resident Volunteers of Riderwood!

National Volunteer Appreciation Week is dedicated to saying “thank you” to millions of volunteers across the nation. On Friday, April 17, employees of Riderwood went a step further with a tip of the cap to its resident volunteers.

These residents of the Erickson Living retirement community were the guests of honor at a Hats Off to Our Volunteers luncheon, enjoying buffet stations, a photo booth and a special song & dance performance by an employee group nicknamed the Riderwood Rockettes.

Eight hundred residents are enrolled in the Volunteer Program of Riderwood, contributing nearly 109,000 hours of service on campus and in the surrounding community in 2014, according to Ms. Judy Felsenfeld, the program’s coordinator.

Chandra Kumar is the Associate Executive Director of Riderwood. During the ceremony, she expressed gratitude to the volunteers in attendance.

“It’s with your caring hearts and serving hands that you contribute in so many capacities. At Riderwood, you mentor employees, share time with fellow residents in our extended care neighborhood and lead resident groups,” stated Ms. Kumar. “You’re good neighbors, too, partnering with community organizations like Habitat for Humanity and Shepherd’s Table. Simply put, your efforts are priceless.”
