Gas Leak on Georgia Avenue
UPDATED Montgomery County fire and rescue crews were called to the scene of a gas leak in the 8700 block of Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring on July 8.
On his Twitter account, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Spokesperson Pete Piringer reported that some buildings were evacuated and some streets cordoned off. He said the gas line was hit by a backhoe.
During the response period, Georgia Avenue was closed at Cameron Street between Colesville Road and Spring Street. Motorists were advised to avoid the area.
