Troopers Patrol for Distracted, Aggressive and Impaired Drivers
Over the Fourth of July weekend, troopers will be looking for distracted, aggressive and impaired drivers as well as dangerous road conditions due to the pending storm.
Each of the 22 state police installations will have additional troopers on patrol conducting traffic enforcement. These initiatives will include DUI saturation patrols, speed enforcement as well as focusing on aggressive and distracted driving.
Troopers will also be on guard for any flooding or hazardous road conditions caused by the storm. Drivers are reminded strong winds and heavy rains can lead to standing water and cause power outages, leaving traffic lights not functioning properly.
To receive State Highway Administration updates on highway conditions, ‘Know Before You Go’ dial 5-1-1 or visit www.md511.org. To check traffic cameras, visit www.roads.maryland.gov and click on CHART. Up to the minute traffic advisories will also be listed there.
