Lightning Strike Ignites Fire at Potomac House (PHOTOS)

About 75 firefighters battled a blaze at this Potomac home on July 2.

UPDATED on July 3 at 8:42 a.m. A family of five and their dog were displaced on July 2 after lightning struck the family’s home at 10611 Farmbrooke Lane in Potomac causing a fire in the attic.

Fire and Rescue Spokesperson Pete Piringer said 75 firefighters responded to the fire at the large, two-story house. There were some road closures in the neighborhood during the fire department’s response.

Piringer said there were three people in the home when the fire occurred. According to Piringer, the occupants exited safely and called 911.

Damage is estimated at $450,000.
