NWS Issues Severe Thunderstorm Watch

Severe thunderstorms are possible this afternoon and evening.
The primary threat with these storms could include heavy rain, large hail, lightning and isolated tornadoes. Those with outdoor plans should monitor the skies and be prepared for threatening weather.
A severe thunderstorm watch means conditions are favorable for severe storms in and close to the watch area.
Pepco officials say they are monitoring the storms as well.
We are closely monitoring potential severe storm activity, which could produce damaging wind gusts, large hail and frequent lightning.
