Divers Find Missing Swimmer in Triadelphia Reservoir

UPDATED Divers have located the body of the missing swimmer at the Triadelphia Reservoir at 2800 Greenbridge Road in Brookeville and police have identified him as a Germantown man.

Fire and Rescue Spokesperson Pete Piringer said the missing 19-year-old was swimming with friends when he disappeared on June 4. According to Piringer, the man was found on Friday afternoon about 65-feet from shore.

Montgomery County police are investigating this as an undetermined death.

According to police, the preliminary investigation indicates that the victim had been swimming in the reservoir with a group of friends.  Police said witnesses told them that the victim began struggling in the the water and then went underneath.

Following an extended water rescue/recovery operation, the victim’s body was recovered from the water by the Charles County Volunteer Dive Rescue Team and the Maryland Department of Natural Resources Police Underwater Operations Unit at approximately 2:33 p.m. this afternoon (June 6).  The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.  MCP detectives are leading the death investigation as the reservoir runs between Howard and Montgomery counties, and the water is within Montgomery County’s jurisdiction.

Following notification of the family, police said the victim has been identified as Avery Troix Williams, age 19, of the 19600 block of Crystal Rock Drive in Germantown.
