CyberMontgomery Conference Set for May 22
Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett will join U.S. Senator Ben Cardin, Montgomery County Department of Economic Development Director Steve Silverman and Federal Business Council Chief Operating Officer and CyberMaryland Conference Chair David Powell to kick off the 2014 CyberMontgomery Conference. This first annual conference will bring together cyber technology professionals from government, academia and the private sector to share information about the current and future state of the cyber market.
The conference will feature presentations from regional and national leaders in the cyber industry, including former U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Thomas J. Ridge, who will present the lunch keynote speech. Ridge is the former two-term governor of Pennsylvania, current president and chief operating officer of Ridge Global and partner at Ridge Schmidt Cyber.
Montgomery County is strategically positioned to become the region’s and nation’s center of civil cyber security due to its proximity to key federal customers, including those at the National Security Agency, the Defense Information Systems Agency, the Department of Defense and the Department of Homeland Security, the presence of leading cyber companies and federal contractors, including Lockheed Martin, DMI, GDFidelis Security Solutions, Triumfant, Koolspan and RioRey, a new Cybersecurity Investment Incentive Tax Credit Program, and the new National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence in Rockville.
