County Executive candidate Doug Duncan issued the following statement, in response to the report issued this week by the Montgomery County Inspector General:

“This latest report confirms what every other review of the Transit Center has found:  The County’s management of this project has been an unmitigated disaster. The facility is four years late, $30 million over budget and too unsafe to open. And while Silver Spring residents wait for action — and taxpayers are asked to pony up even more — our County leaders still have no clear plan to open this critical transportation hub. Rather, they’ve perfected the art of pointing fingers and assigning blame. It’s time the County accepted responsibility for their mismanagement and focused on what residents and commuters really need — a safely completed, and operational transit center. Let’s stop the blame game and actually get something done.”
