No Return Date for Tiger Woods (PHOTOS & VIDEOS)
There’s still no word on if Tiger Woods will play in the Quicken Loans National at Congressional Country Club on June 23-29.
At a May 19 news conference, Woods said he would like to play right now but he can’t until the doctor says it’s okay. It’s been over seven weeks since Woods had back surgery for a pinched nerve.
He said he’s been sore and described his recovery and rehab as more tedious than after previous surgeries. Wood said one of the hardest things about the recovery was trying not to do too much with his kids who are very active. As for his return to competitive golf, he said he didn’t know when it would happen.
“There really is no timetable,” said Woods. “I want to play now…I miss playing.” Instead, he said he’s taking it day by day.
Woods said he can chip and putt but would “take it slowly” when it came to full swings and drives.
Always the competitor, he joked that he’s been passing the time by becoming really good at video games.
As for the upcoming tournament in Bethesda, he thanked Quicken Loans and Congressional Country Club for the support.
“This is one of the great golf courses and we are so excited to come back through 2020,” said Woods.
The tournament raises money for the college-access programs of the Tiger Woods Foundation, local charities and supports the United States military.
