Education Funding News Conference (Video)

Montgomery County Council President Craig Rice, Councilmembers Phil Andrews and Cherri Branson make up the Education Committee and today (May 12) this Council Committee recommended full funding for the FY 2015 operating budget of Montgomery County Public Schools. “This is a great day for Montgomery County,” said Rice as he read a statement and thanked his colleagues. “I want to thank everybody,” Rice said. County Executive Ike Leggett congratulated all the parties involved and the enormous work behind the funding agreement. School kids need this, he said. Still, Leggett said, challenges remain such as rising enrollment and the achievement gap.
