Meet Kinsey Walker at the March for Babies

One in eight babies born in Maryland will be born too soon.  This is worse than the national average of 1 in 9.  12 year old Kinsey Walker was premature (29 weeks, 2 pounds 2 ounces, 14” long…Today she is a healthy preteen;  and the 2014 Ambassador for the March of Dimes.

Meet Kinsey Walker

Kinsey…

I’m sad to learn how many babies are sick when they are born, but this has made me empowered to help.  The March of Dimes helped me realize how lucky you are if you live.  So, I decided to give back and help families that have or will have preemies.

When I turned 5, I decided to walk for March of Dimes.  My parents tell me I skipped most of the five miles.  We’ve walked in Leesburg, Frederick, Gaithersburg, and D.C. over the past 7 years.  I got my Girl Scout troop to walk with me one year.  The best is my birthday which is the beginning of March….Instead of presents, I ask for donations for the March of Dimes.  Every year, I am surprised by how many people support me.

The March of Dimes supports programs and research right here in our community to help babies to be born healthy and to help those who are born sick or too soon so they can survive and thrive.

Montgomery County March for Babies…
