Fine Art Exhibit at Delaplaine Visual Arts Education Center

The Fine Arts Professionals of Northern Virginia’s will exhibit works April 5 to 27 at the Delaplaine Visual Arts Education Center, 40 South Carroll Street, Frederick. The group consists of 26 of the region’s professional artists, many of whom have national and international reputations. The exhibit features a wide range of styles including abstract, impressionism, and realism in various painting mediums such as oils, watercolors, acrylics, and pastels. An Artist Reception will be held on Saturday, April 5 from 3 to 5 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public.

“We were really pleased with the response we received during the first show,” said Jill Poyerd, one of the founding artists. “Visitors were amazed to see the consistent high quality level within such a varied body of work, which was one of the reasons we’ve been so excited about our group.”
Fine Art Professionals of Northern Virginia (FAP) is composed of 26 professionals who have distinguished themselves in the art world. All of its members have met a series of criteria in order to establish themselves as working professionals in their field. The artists have, collectively, exhibited throughout the nation, served as jurors for fine art exhibitions, been published in national magazines, written books, and taught classes or workshops around the world.

The group was formed in 2012 by five professional artists in Loudoun County who felt that the high level of fine art in the region was scattered and under-recognized. The idea was to pull together a representation of the best of the region’s fine art painters and then present the
collective artwork to the public through an easy-to-use website (www.fineartvirginia.com); in effect, a one-stop resource for art lovers. After several months of increased visibility and positive feedback on their website, the group decided to expand their vision and begin presenting their collective work to the public through live exhibitions at some of the region’s top venues.

Gallery hours are Monday through Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, please contact The Delaplaine Visual Arts Education Center at 301.698.0656 or email dsibbison@delaplaine.org www.delaplaine.org
