Police Investigate Fatal Pedestrian Accident at Metro Station

mc police car for slider 450x280Montgomery County police are investigating a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred in the evening of Feb. 25 at the Rockville Metro station.

Police said the call of a pedestrian struck at 250 Rockville Pike came in to dispatch around 7:30 p.m. last night.

According to police, the preliminary investigation indicates that the pedestrian was walking across the entrance of the Metro station. Police said a Ride On bus struck the pedestrian as the bus was attempting to make a left turn from westbound Park Road into the entrance of the Rockville Metro station.

The pedestrian, police said, was transported to a local hospital where she died from her injuries.

Police have identified the pedestrian as Anicia Caringal, age 62, of the 7300 block of Paxton Road in Falls Church, Virginia.

The driver of the bus is identified by police as Daryll Norvell, age 42, of the 12500 block of Catalina Drive in Lusby, Maryland.

The circumstances surrounding this collision remain under investigation.

According to police, there were two passengers on the bus who were no longer on scene when police responded.  Detectives would like those individuals and anyone else with information regarding this collision to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240.773.6620 or call the police non-emergency number at 301.279.8000.  Callers may remain anonymous.
