Bus Driver Arrested
Detectives from the 1st District Investigative Section have arrested an Olney man for committing second degree assault and fourth degree sex offenses.
Montgomery County police said Rigoberto Adonay Galindo Lemus, age 47, of the 3300 block of Buehler Court, was arrested on January 9.
According to police, on December 17 an adult female reported to police that she had been assaulted on a Ride On bus in the area of the Shady Grove Metro station. Police said their investigation revealed that on December 12 at approximately 5:05 p.m., the victim had been walking on Sommerville Drive when she passed an out-of-service Ride On bus. According to police, the driver of the bus, Lemus, engaged her in conversation and invited her on to the bus to stay warm. The victim accepted and boarded the bus, police said.
Once on the bus, police said the victim and Lemus were engaging in a conversation when Lemus inappropriately touched her. The victim then left the bus and, according to police, while exiting, Lemus again inappropriately touched her.
Based on the investigation, police have charged Lemus with two counts of second degree assault and two counts of committing a fourth degree sex offense. Police said he was released from detention on his own recognizance on January 9.
