Local Businesses Take Part in ‘Giving Tuesday’
Black Friday and Cyber Monday center on buying gifts and finding the best deals to kick off the holiday shopping season.
But the Tuesday following the madness is focused on making someone else’s holiday shine.
Part of a national effort to spread philanthropy as well as holiday cheer, Dec. 3 is deemed “Giving Tuesday” and several local businesses and organizations are joining in, hoping to make the season a little happier for those in need.
Below is a list of “Giving Tuesday” events in Montgomery County:
- First Book Montgomery County will be at Child’s Play in Rockville wrapping presents and collecting books for children in need.
- Habitat For Humanity Metro Maryland is participating in “Giving Tuesday” in a effort to bring awareness to affordable housing and encourage others to get involved by donating, volunteering and advocating.
- The Montgomery Countryside Alliance is using the occasion to recruit members to help with their mission to promote economic, land-use and transportation policies and programs that preserve the natural environment, open spaces, and rural lands in Montgomery County’s Agricultural Reserve.
- The Conflict Resolution Center of Montgomery County is holding a “Giving Tuesday” online drive to raise money and awareness to the center.
