Operation Turkey Chase

Police say the night before Thanksgiving is known as one of the busiest nights for underage drinking and impaired driving.

That’s why the Montgomery County Police Department is participating in Operation Turkey Chase, along with other law enforcement agencies. The operation formally kicks off the multi-agency Holiday Season Task Force.

The mission is to reduce underage drinking and impaired driving through organized alcohol enforcement efforts throughout the county. These efforts will include sobriety checkpoints, phantom checkpoints, saturation patrols, laser stop teams and plainclothes operations.

Participating agencies in this year’s Holiday Season Task Force include the Montgomery County Police Department, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department, the Maryland-National Capital Park Police, the Gaithersburg Police Department, the Rockville City Police Department and the Maryland State Police.

The task force will continue through January 4, 2014.
