Weekend Planner (Photos & Video)

The holiday season is in full swing with ‘Thanksgivukkah’ on Thursday, Nov. 28. The 31st Annual Turkey Chase in Bethesda is a great way to start the day, either as a spectator or a participant. The Puppet Co. in Glen Echo includes two versions of the holiday classic The Nutcracker with Bob Brown’s The Nutcracker Fantasy for young children up to the age of four. Children five and older will enjoy the 25th Anniversary of The Nutcracker opening Nov. 29. Also at Glen Echo Park, the Annual Holiday Art Show & Sale at the Pop Corn Gallery offers gifts made by the Park’s resident artists and instructors.

Olney Theatre’s Dickens’ classic A Christmas Carol adapted by Paul Morella opens Nov. 29 and runs through Dec. 30. Enjoy big band sound with Boston Brass and the children’s chorus at Strathmore Dec. 1 at 4 p.m. The New York based Metropolitan Klezmer Band performs at BlackRock Center Dec 1 at 3 p.m.

A great way to celebrate the holiday season is visiting a local Holiday Light Display.

Here are some of our other weekend picks from the MyMCMedia.org calendar. (For area Farmers Markets, locations and hours can be found on our events calendar .)
