Rockville Police Make Arrest in Assault and Robbery (Photo)
Rockville police arrested a man Nov. 20 for an assault and robbery Sunday near Maryvale Park in which an assailant used an electric stun gun.
According to police, the victim was approached near the park, in the 700 block of First Street, by a man known to him as “Q” and two unidentified males. After a discussion, one of the three males used a stun gun on the victim and all three began punching him, police said. The victim was knocked to the ground and all three assailants kicked the victim, who suffered a broken nose, bruises, cuts and facial swelling and was taken to a local hospital, according to police. The assailants took the victim’s jacket, currency and prescription medication, police said.
The Rockville City Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit identified the man known as “Q” as Quinnel Lee Martin, 27, of the 200 block of East Argyle Street in Rockville.
Officers from the Rockville City Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit arrested Martin without incident on Nov. 20 at the Rockville Metro Station. During the arrest, officers found a substance believed to be crack cocaine on the ground next to Martin, according to a statement released by police.
Martin was charged with:
- one count of armed robbery,
- one count of first-degree assault,
- one count of second-degree assault,
- one count of reckless endangerment,
- four counts of conspiracy related to each of the aforementioned charges,
- one count of possession with intent to distribute, and
- one count of possession, not marijuana.
Martin is being held at the Montgomery County Detention Center on $25,000 bond.
