The Arts Barn partners with Sandy Spring Theater Group to perform Orson Welles’ infamous rendition of H. G. Wells’ The War of the Worlds Oct. 11 through 27 with performances on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Admission starts at $9. Tickets are available by calling 301.258.6394 or by visiting Gaithersburg website.

In 1938, Orson Welles’ Halloween radio broadcast of H.G. Wells’ science fiction classic alarmed radio listeners and caused them to wonder if aliens had actually landed on Earth. This special adaptation of the famous “panic broadcast” is performed live in front of a “radio studio audience.” Following the hour-long program is When Welles Collide, a 15-minute tale that depicts a similar story and contains a lesson for modern times.

Please note there is no performance on October 13 due to the celebration of Oktoberfest at the Kentlands.
