The Little Big Dogs
Since 2006 the MWC (Mountain West Conference) has been owned by the Boise State Broncos. This year it looked like they would own it again but Derek Carr and Fresno State had something to say about that. The Fresno State Bulldogs have shown that they are the team to beat in the MWC. On September 20th, Fresno State beat Boise State 41-40. In the season opener Fresno State beat AAC (American Athletic Conference) powerhouse Rutgers in an overtime thriller.
Fresno State could be the Cinderella story of this year. With senior quarterback Derek Carr under center they seem unstoppable. In the first three games, Carr has thrown 12 TDs for 1121 yards. Carr was also named Player of the Week for his performance against Boise State. Carr has now thrown a touchdown in 23 straight games, the longest active streak in FBS. Fresno State has more than 2 win less teams on their schedule right now so they shouldn’t have any problems staying undefeated until the MWC Championship game. Fresno State shows potential to make the Orange Bowl or Fiesta Bowl and they don’t look afraid of any team no matter how good they are.
