Do you know of a young adult with special needs who has tried to transition to the work force? On this episode of Connecting Our Community you will find out about an organization that is trying to improve the transition for young people with special needs going from school to independence.
On the first half Host Karen Allyn introduces Karen Leggett Abouraya, Chair of the Transition Work Group and her daughter, Nadia Abouraya. The Transition Work Group is a coalition that includes representatives from government agencies, private service providers and parents – all working to improve the transition from high school to work, post-secondary education and independence.
On the second half of the program Host, Karen Allyn will introduce Nic Stearns Co-Founder of ArtStream and RJ Martin, one of the local performers.
There is a Transitioning Youth Resource Fair every October at the Montgomery College Rockville.
