Backpack Journalism’s Big Event

Last night was the big event….

The Summer Backpack Journalism Academy Viewing Party!  We had a full house to showcase the work of our newest Backpack Journalists. I am so unbelievably proud of every one of them. Their stories were set to a high standard and they definitely delivered. Parents, siblings and friends were able to see how much work they did during their time at MCM working on their story. I can’t believe that the past six weeks went by so fast. I met and worked with very talented teenagers and I hope they continue to tell their stories. MCM’s very own Tamika Smith was there to see the final projects. She gave great advice when she visited our classes and I am thrilled to say that some our students followed it. One of the main highlights of last night’s event was (besides the journalists, of course) was the popcorn machine. We had to have popcorn while watching their stories!   I look forward to hearing more from these journalists.

Make sure you check out all of the stories on MCM’s YouTube Channel

Here’s a recap of this Summer’s Backpack Journalism Academy by Delonte Corley and Monique Costa (my interns)
