68-Year-Old Woman Killed in Crash Overnight

montgomery county police for slider 855x380Montgomery County police say a 68-year-old woman, identified as Penelope Ann Garland of Woodbine, was killed in a single vehicle crash shortly after midnight on Georgia Avenue at the Inter-County Connector (ICC).

According to a police account, officers were responding to a call for service at approximately 12:05 a.m. on Oct. 17th when they observed a vehicle traveling south on Georgia Avenue approaching the ICC. Police said the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed and did not have headlights on.

For reasons still under investigation, police said the vehicle left the roadway and struck a traffic pole at Georgia Avenue and the ICC.

According to police, Garland was transported to Suburban Hospital where she died from her injuries.
