5PM Live Streaming Governor O’Malley Hurricane Press Conference

Governor Martin O’Malley will hold another press conference today, OCTOBER 29 at 5PM at the Maryland Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) to provide an update on Hurricane Sandy as the storm approaches the area. At his 5 p.m. press conference Governor O’Malley stressed the need for residents to stay inside during the duration of this storm. Currently, 75,000 Marylanders are without power. This number will rise as the hurricane makes landfall. The National Weather Service now predicts Sandy will make landfall close to 8 p.m. tonight. The storm has increased intensity and is travelling faster. High tide in Ocean City will be at 8:25 p.m. tonight. Garret County should expect 2 feet of snow.

36 shelters are open statewide to assist residents displaced by Hurricane Sandy. Governor O’Malley thanked WAWA, Sams Club and Food Lion for their generous contributions of food for the shelters.
