5 Things to Know Today, March 19, in Montgomery County

Today is Friday, March 19, and here are five things to know in Montgomery County:

1. County COVID-19 Testing Clinics: Free COVID-19 testing is available throughout the county at eight testing sites today.

2. ICYMI: Hogan announced Thursday that Maryland will enter Phase 2 of its vaccination plan on Tuesday, March 23 making all residents ages 60+ eligible to be vaccinated.

3. Council in Virtual Session: The County Council meets at 1 p.m. to consider allowing contact football at Montgomery County Public Schools. Watch the meeting streamed on YouTube.

4. Economic Recovery Town Hall:  Montgomery County’s COVID-19 Economic Revitalization and Recovery program is hosting a virtual town hall meeting at noon to discuss the public workforce system, special initiatives during the pandemic, services for job seekers and services for businesses. The meeting will be broadcast on Zoom (use passcode 691810) as well as on County Cable Montgomery and Facebook.

5. Author Marta McDowell Talk:  The author of “Emily Dickinson’s Gardening Life” will talk about her book virtually at 11 a.m. McDowell has another book coming out this year about “The Secret Garden” and its author, Frances Hodgson Burnett.
