Montgomery County received $40 million in federal funding for the construction of an underpass beneath Wisconsin Avenue connecting NIH and Walter Reed Medical Center and the Metro station. The funds are being used to address traffic congestion resulting from the move of Walter Reed Medical Center to Montgomery County under the Base Realignment and Closure Act.
