King Yassin Leigh-Conteh | MCPD

A 19-year-old from Silver Spring faces two first-degree murder charges for the deaths of two men in January 2017 at the Westfield Wheaton Mall, a Montgomery County police statement said.

King Yassin Leigh-Conteh of the 8700 Block of Colesville Road is being held without bail at the Montgomery Detention Center, online court records say.

He is being charged in the deaths of Angel Alfredo Gomez-Pineda, 24, of Silver Spring, and Kevin Siloe Moya Cruz, 22, of Wheaton, police said.

The killings took place about 3:15 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 10, at the mall, at 11160 Veirs Mill Road, police said. Wheaton police district officers found Cruz and Gomez-Pineda on the lower level of the mall, suffering from stab wounds. They were taken to hospitals with life-threatening injuries and ultimately died from those injuries, police said.

Police said the men were stabbed after an altercation.

In August, police released this surveillance video of a man they wanted in connection with the killings:
