19-Year-Old and 13-Year-Old Arrested in Wheaton Shooting
UPDATED 10 A.M., 31-A 19-year-old is also now in custody in connection with the shooting of an 18-year-old woman in Wheaton on July 30.
Montgomery County Police Spokesperson Cpl. Rebecca Innocenti said the teen was arrested last night but has not yet been formally charged as of 10 a.m. Thursday. She had no additional details about this teen’s involvement in the shooting.
This is the second person arrested in the case. One Wednesday, a 13-year-old boy was charged with attempted murder and armed robbery in the case.
According to a Tweet from police, the motive behind the shooting may be gang related.

UPDATED 11:32 a.m. Montgomery County police are investigating a shooting that occurred around 5:23 a.m. today at Plyers Mill Road and Douglas Avenue in Wheaton.
Captain Paul Starks said an 18-year-old woman was shot multiple times and is being treated at a local hospital for serious, but non-life threatening, injuries.
Police are interviewing witnesses, Starks said.
According to the preliminary investigation, the victim and a group of females were walking in the area when they were met by a group of males. For reasons still under investigation, police said a physical confrontation occurred and the teenager was shot. Police said they do not believe this is a stranger-based incident.
The suspects and the gun have not been located.
